Job Description - River Programs Coordinator Contact: Shannon McMulkin, LMRF Board Member smcmulkin@gmail.com Summary: The LMRF River Programs Coordinator is a part-time role responsible for planning and executing youth river programming, supporting LMRF’s donor and partner relationships, and providing ongoing operational support. Hours: 15-20 hours per week average Compensation: $20/hour -negotiable depending on experience Timeline: The programs coordinator should be available to start work no later than Sept 15th, 2026 and be available to work through the end of June 2027. The Program Coordinator would need to be available for at least two weeks in June to facilitate the week long overnight camps. About the Organization: The mission of LMRF is to promote stewardship of the Mississippi River through deep engagement. The organization is focused on providing in-depth opportunities for people to interact with the Mississippi River and develop a meaningful connection to the natural world, for the sake of a healthy river and healthy communities. About the position: The Programs Coordinator will work independently to accomplish the goals outlined by the board of directors. They are responsible for tracking all progress toward these goals and sharing periodic updates with the board. The programs coordinator hours will vary based on the time of year and amount of work but will average 15-20 hours per week. Key Responsibilities: Youth Programming- Mississippi River Summer Camps and Community Canoes Recruit students for the Mississippi River Camps and Programs and Community Canoe trips Manage all participant communications prior to and during trips Facilitate group activities and provide student support during 4-day on-river camps Track youth participation data toward program targets (200 youth exposed, 20 in immersive programming) Prepare post-season report covering participation numbers, spending, and recommendations Partnership Coordination: Support development and documentation of school and institutional partnerships Coordinate river experience scheduling for school groups and community partners Provide monthly program updates to the board Donor & Fundraising Support: Support donor communications, acknowledgments, and stewardship tracking Assist with grant reporting documentation and prospect research Maintain records of partnership activity and funding pipeline progress Operational Support: Respond to all phone and email inquiries Support the board with additional projects as needed Position Requirements: An ideal candidate will possess the following skills: Strong organizational skills and comfort managing multiple relationships simultaneously Experience working with youth in outdoor or experiential settings Ability to work independently with clear board-level check-ins Comfort with documentation, tracking, and reporting Genuine connection to the Lower Mississippi River and its communities Must live in (or be willing to travel to and spend considerable time in) Clarksdale, MS, and surrounding communities up and down the Lower Mississippi River.
