Tonight! Thursday, August 18, 2022 - Square Books, Oxford, MS, — 6:00pm — Rinker Buck in conversation with John Ruskey for Life on the Mississippi
The eagerly awaited return of master American storyteller Rinker Buck, Life on the Mississippi is an epic, enchanting blend of history and adventure in which Buck builds a wooden flatboat from the grand “flatboat era” of the 1800s and sails it down the Mississippi River, illuminating the forgotten past of America’s first western frontier.
Guinness World Record Attempt - Dale Sanders: Oldest to Paddle Entire Mississippi River
***At the age of 87, Dale intends to enter the Guinness World Record Book once again, as the oldest person to ever paddle the entire length of the Mississippi River. He will start from its source at Lake Itasca, MN all the way to the salt water in the Gulf of Mexico, around 2340 miles!!! Paddlers generally call it a "Source to Sea" paddle. Dale will be paddling a "NorthWind SOLO" Northstar Canoes canoe. He hopes to finish in 87 days, on September 8, 2022. You will be able to follow Dale with SPOT Tracker. If you feel like it, join Dale for a spell. But remember you are on your own. ***Disclaimer - Dale and team takes no responsibility and you will have to make all your own shuttle, paddle, camping, eating, etc arrangements. In other words - just show up using GPS ready to paddle.***
Greybeard: The Documentary: A film by Zak Rivers in association with Wilderness Mindset (Alex Maier and Amy Robin)
Dale "GREYBEARD" Sanders will be taking on the entire length of the Mississippi River by canoe, in attempt to break the Guinness world record as the oldest human to do so.... AGAIN! While Dale makes his attempt, he will have a film crew following him along the way. Although Dale is attempting this Guinness world record, the film will be covering much more. They will take an in depth look at Dale and his life. His accomplishments, his downfalls, his ability to stay optimistic and agile. In other words the good, the bad, and the ugly. We invite you to follow along with the journey on our facebook page Greybeard: The Documentary
