Mother River
People from India consider the Ganga to be a goddess, Goddess Ganga. We think of the Mississippi as "Momma Mississippi." She's the Queen, we're the worker bees. The Chinese consider the Yangtze to be their “Mother River.” Protecting mother rivers is our shared obligation across the earth. “Pachamama" they call her in South America. Here on our continent, big river people like the Yakima and the Chinook think of their beloved Columbia River as "Nch'i-Wàna."

Rivers Confluence, Why Can’t We?

This goes out to those on either side of the aisle. To those who live on separate sides of the railroad track. To those who have, and those that don't. To those who seek to direct, and those who follow. To those who will, and those who won't. We humans are composed primarily of water. Our nature is to flow together. Like the waters of the world. Rivers do it. Ocean currents do it. The atmosphere does it. Fish do it. Birds do it. Why can't we?
Water flows together. We are mostly water. We can flow together too.
