Wow! Thank you for that beautiful exploration of history, the civil rights and river lore, what a wonderful learning, thank you! All hail the Sunflower and all her tributaries and contributors, all hail the Mother River! All hail the human Heroes who have and continue to be strong and preserver! All hail the Mighty Quapaws who share and spread these things to us all-Thank you!!! I have always loved sunflowers for their beauty and brightness, and also because they feed our relatives…as it turns out my new home is in the Sunflower Subdivision, just off Sunflower Avenue…happenstance as it may be I’m grateful and honored to have that small connection with the Sunflower River! I forgot to add, All hail the Mud! Historically bringing nutrients (sadly now bringing human made contaminants as well, not the Mud’s fault) and new life to the riverside lands…all hail the Mud! J
